David Bowen

Biography

David Bowen is an accomplished event marketing professional with over 15 years of experience. His ability to develop and execute exceptional experiential marketing events and programs has made him a sought-after collaborator to top tier businesses in the food and wine, entertainment, media, fashion, beauty, cultural, and nonprofit industries. In addition, he has a proven track record as a successful nonprofit fundraiser, a skill he now applies when putting together strategic partnerships and sponsorship packages for his clients.

David founded his company in 2005 and was quickly awarded the noteworthy assignment of producing the James Beard Foundation Awards, the culinary industry’s big night. The assignment was “reinvention” and Bowen & Company worked with the Foundation to overhaul the entire program, moving it to Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall, elevating the production values, reworking the event’s sponsorship packages, and adding a much-needed red carpet for arrivals. The results were applauded by both the industry and the media for bringing relevance and glamour to what Time magazine calls “the Oscars of the food world.”

Bowen & Company’s ability to seamlessly execute multiple events in markets around the country led to two recent experiential marketing assignments for Liz Claiborne, Inc. Featuring guest appearances and book signings by Claiborne’s chief creative officer, Project Runway’s Tim Gunn, the events included fashion shows and in-store receptions with prize give-a-ways. Other recent Bowen & Company projects include the first anniversary event for Reader’s Digest’s Every Day with Rachael Ray magazine, the unveiling of Saks Fifth Avenue’s Holiday Windows, the editor’s launch of Platinum Rare skin care cream from La Prairie, and the Museum for African Art’s Gala and Silent Auction.

For several years, David served as event marketing director for Hearst Magazines, where he produced executive meetings and conferences as well as numerous events for Hearst’s titles including O, The Oprah Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Town & Country, House Beautiful, Esquire, and Good Housekeeping.

From 1997 to 2000, David ran the event division at the Susan Magrino Agency, where he produced the launch event for O, The Oprah Magazine—hailed by Newsweek as “the most successful magazine start-up in history”—featuring a performance by Tina Turner; the IPO event for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia on Wall Street, the opening of star chef Daniel Boulud’s flagship Restaurant Daniel; and the 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Four Seasons Restaurant, among many others.

A former actor and theater producer, David holds a BFA in Theater from Syracuse University. He lives with his partner and their two children in Westchester County in New York.
